York University's top academic student-athletes were honoured on Tuesday afternoon at the Athletic & Recreation Department's annual academic all-Canadian luncheon.
 
The student-athletes, representing 25 Lions teams, were recognized for their achievements in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year. Academic all-Canadians awards are given to U SPORTS student-athletes who achieve a sessional grade point average of 7.5 and higher, while Ontario University Athletics (OUA) achievement awards are for student-athletes OUA teams who have earned the same GPA.
 
Also honoured were the male and female student-athletes from both U SPORTS and the OUA who had the highest sessional GPA's last year. Receiving the U SPORTS awards were Erran Lee from women's hockey and Malcolm Loukides from men's soccer, while Ana Janic from women's tennis as well as Glen Katsnelson from men's tennis and John Lau from badminton received the top OUA awards.
