FERNANDES NAMED CIS ALL-CANADIAN

York University Lions field hockey player Adriana Fernandes was named a Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) all-Canadian on Wednesday (Nov. 2).

The fourth-year defender from Mississauga, Ont., is an all-Canadian for the first time and was also named an OUA all-star earlier this year, also for the first time.

She earned the awards after another stellar season on the pitch. She scored one goal this season while also serving as the team captain, and was a tremendous leader for a young team.

“Adriana carried our young team through a tough year of learning on the field,” said head coach Deborah Fullerton. “She was a terrific captain and was also the striker on all corners. Adriana has incredible fitness and was able to help the York field hockey team get progressively better with each game played this season.”
