BADAT, PENA NAMED CIS ALL-CANADIANS
York University Lions soccer players Alon Badat and Adrian Pena were both named Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) second-team all-Canadians on Wednesday (Nov. 9).
For Pena, last year’s CIS tournament most valuable player, it is the second CIS all-Canadian award after earning a place on the first team last year, while for Badat it is his first such award. Both players were named OUA first-team all-stars earlier this season.
Pena, a fourth-year kinesiology and health science student from Woodbridge, Ont., earned OUA all-star honours for the third time. Last year’s OUA West most valuable player finished fourth in league scoring with 12 goals and assisted on several others. He was also an OUA all-star in his rookie season, as well as last year when he also was named an all-Canadian.
Badat, an administrative studies student from Thornhill, Ont., was the division’s rookie of the year last season and he followed up his stellar first campaign with an even more impressive second year, finishing second in league scoring with 14 goals after scoring nine last season. He was also an OUA all-star last year but is on the first team for the first time.
