The York Lions are counting down the top 10 stories of the 2014-15 season! Stay tuned to yorkulions.ca over the next two weeks as we relive a tremendous year for our varsity programs. The No. 1 story will be unveiled on Friday, April 17.

Three Lions student-athletes won major awards in their respective sports this season to put their names in the York record books.
 
Women's hockey player Lisa Stathopulos won the OUA most valuable player award, becoming the first York student-athlete to receive the honour in program history; men's volleyball player Josh Henderson became York's first ever CIS rookie of the year and second OUA rookie of the year and women's rugby player Dorrian Khouri became just the second York player ever to earn the OUA Russell Division most valuable player award.
 
Stathopulos capped her final season with the Lions by leading the OUA and finishing third in the CIS in scoring, and she was also first in the conference in goals and third in assists. She went on to earn first-team OUA all-star and CIS all-Canadian honours along with teammate Kristen Barbara. Together, they were York's first women's hockey first-team all-Canadians since 2006, and became the first York teammates to earn all-Canadian honours in the same season.
 
Henderson completed the best rookie season by a Lions men's volleyball player with the national honour, and was also an OUA second-team all-star and a member of the CIS all-rookie team. He finished among the top 10 in the conference in numerous offensive categories, and was in the top 25 in multiple defensive statistical categories.
 
In addition to earning the MVP award, Khouri was also recognized as a CIS first-team all-Canadian, becoming York's first women's rugby all-Canadian since 2005. She was scored a pair of tries in the regular season and was a force on defence while playing three different positions.
